What is a "Traductor Jurado" in Spain?

Updated: Jan 30, 2021

A "Traductor Jurado" (let's use from now on the translation Sworn Translator or Certified Translator) is a translator accredited to grant legal validity to the translation of the content of a document in another language before, for example, a Spanish Court of Law.

The Sworn Translator is authorized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Spain in order to attest to the translation of any document in another language, as through her/his signature and seal authenticates its content.

Currently, the figure of the Sworn/Certified Translator has a very important role since it grants fidelity to any sort of document necessary for bids, litigations, etc.
